What are file types accepted?


Should my fonts be outlined?

YES! VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS accepts camera-ready artwork only. Breaking the fonts helps us by making sure that the fonts don’t change on our side when we open up the file. Outlining the fonts prevents them from changing when we receive them.

What color space should I send my files in?

All files should be sent in CMYK. Any files submitted in RGB may experience unacceptable color shifting. All files submitted in RGB are automatically converted to CMYK.

What are the bleed requirements?

All files must include a (0.2 inch) bleed per dimension regardless if your design bleeds to the edge or not. An example of bleed setup for a standard size 2.5″ x 3.5″ trading card would be 2.7″ x 3.7″.

What are your resolution requirements?

All rasterized (bitmap) images must be at least 350 dpi. However, 400 dpi for photo images and 1200 dpi for text and line art is highly recommended.

Should I include crop marks in my file?

NEVER include crop marks in your artwork. Always submit your artwork at trim size + bleed. An example of bleed setup for a 4″ x 6″ postcard would be 4.2″ x 6.2″.

Can I include front and back images in 1 file?

Each side of your artwork must be in a separate file. Do not put both front and back in the same file.

Should overprint be turned on or off?

It is STRONGLY suggested that overprint is turned off to avoid unexpected results.

How do I send my files to VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS?

There are two methods to send artwork to VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS. The first is by email. The email address to send your files to is artwork@versicolorproductions.com. By email, we can receive files up to 20MB. For those that need to submit larger files, FTP access is available.

What are the differences between sending files by email and sending them by FTP?

Sending files by email is much more convenient for you and allows VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS to process your job quicker. However, the largest file size that can be sent by email is 20 megabytes per file. For larger artwork, FTP method must be used.

How do I log in to the FTP?

The FTP address is ftp.versicolorprinting.com . Please contact us for a username and password if you don’t have one already.

What FTP client should I use to connect to the FTP?

You may use any FTP client. If you don’t know of any, we recommend FileZilla. It is FREE, it can be downloaded at http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client and is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

How should artwork uploaded to the FTP be named for quick processing?

Name each file the job name used for your order when placed, for example, if your job name is “Trade Show”, your files should be named Trade Show-Front, Trade Show-Back, Trade Show- Front-Spot, etc. Without understandable job names, your job may be delayed.

Can I change paper, quantity or any other job specifications after I’ve finalized my order?

Due to the highly automated and fast-paced gang-run process, once orders have been started, they are final. Changes cannot be made and orders cannot be canceled or refunded.

What payment methods are accepted?

Checks, money orders and credit cards through Paypal are accepted. You may set up your credit card at the secure payment site www.paypal.com. All orders must be paid in full.

What type of printing is used?

Usually, all products except banners are done using a gang run procedure on offset presses including jobs of 200 and 500 quantities. Banner jobs are not offset.

How long does it take to start printing?

Printing may start as early as a few hours.

How do I calculate turnaround time?

Turnaround is determined by adding production time to shipping time. Production time is the time to manufacture your job, printing, design, cutting, etc. The shipping time depends on the method you choose. Both production time and shipping time never include weekends or holidays. The day of ordering is not counted as the first day.

What is your time-cut?

12:00 p.m. Central time is the daily time-cut.

Do you blind/drop ship?

Yes, simply request it when ordering. Invoices and documentation may not be included upon request.

What carrier does VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS use to ship with?

Most shipments are sent via UPS. Orders sent to Europe or to PO Boxes are sent USPS.

Can I have shipments sent to my own account?

Yes, shipment can be sent using your account. However, a cost for packaging and materials may need to be included with some orders.

Where do you ship to?

VERSICOLOR PRODUCTIONS ships to all 50 US states, Puerto Rico, Canada and Europe.
